This season we hope to further uplift food justice in our community. Can you help?

Food justice means increasing access to nutritious, affordable, and culturally-appropriate food for all. This means we aim to expand the production and purchase of culturally relevant foods, or foods that are commonly preferred and consumed by people with shared beliefs, values, and behaviors in our community.

We are looking for: black beans, tomatillos, okra, lemongrass, Enoki mushrooms, grape leaves, and more! If you know where we could source more culturally relevant foods, have suggestions on what foods you would like to be grown in our community, or are a producer of these foods yourself - get in touch!

In honor of Earth Day, we want to highlight the ways that a few Boulder County farms are taking their farming practices to the next level and not only decreasing their impact on the environment, but leaving the land better than they found it.

Find products from these local food producers who exemplify environmental stewardship in our online market at the 🔗 in bio and pickup in Boulder, Longmont, or Lafayette this week!

This Boulder County ranch focuses on restoring prairie land with their farming practices, constantly rotating their cattle and partnering with public and private landowners to restore natural ecosystems.

MASA Farm & Seed Foundation is creating a bio-regional seed bank to work towards a deeper sense of regional food sovereignty – giving people access to healthy and culturally appropriate food, as well as agency in their food systems.

These bees forage up to five miles from their hives, producing honey that is unique to the local flora in Boulder County. Pollinating native plants and focusing on ecosystem management, Boulder Valley Honey gives back to the land that helps produce their delicious product.

Meet Natalie, our Food Hub Operations Manager! 👋

Natalie comes to us with a depth of knowledge in local food systems! She and her husband started their own organic produce farm (Isabelle Farm) in 2005 and she has been involved in growing and selling local food on many levels since then. 👩‍🌾

After being a customer at the Boulder County Farmers Markets, and then a vendor, now she comes to us hoping to grow access to the amazing food being sustainably produced in Colorado and to support the farmers, ranchers and other creators who produce it.

"As a grower and a customer, my goals were the same--to create and consume in a way that benefited the environment, the local community and the local economy," she said. "It feels good to again be working in a place whose mission and vision align with my personal beliefs."
