Important Updates: November SNAP (Food Assistance) Benefits
We want to share the most up-to-date information about SNAP (food assistance) benefits in light of the ongoing federal government shutdown.
Here’s what we know right now:
- SNAP benefits for November are currently on hold. This means there may be a delay before households receive their November SNAP allocation on their EBT cards.
- If you already have SNAP funds on your EBT card, you can continue to use them as usual. There are no changes to how you shop or pay with SNAP benefits at BCFM markets or online store.
- You can still earn incentives on your remaining SNAP balances during the shutdown. You will continue to earn and use matching dollars when you shop for fruits and vegetables with your SNAP benefits. The Colorado SNAP Produce Bonus program and Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB) program funding is not impacted at this time.
- Our WIC Farmers Market and CSA programs are not affected at this time.
What’s next:
- The State of Colorado is waiting for federal funding to be restored before issuing new SNAP benefits.
- Boulder County will keep processing new SNAP applications and renewals so that everyone who qualifies can receive benefits as soon as funding resumes.
- BCFM staff is exploring alternative funding sources to support our farmers and community members if SNAP benefits are not available in November due to the shutdown.
