Our New Brand

Our commitment to local food and community just got a whole lot bigger. Welcome to the next chapter of Boulder County Farmers Markets.

Things Are About to Look Different. Here’s Why.

For 40 seasons, Boulder County Farmers Markets has built vibrant community gathering spaces that unite growers and eaters over our shared love for local food.

Yet at the same time, farming in our community has only gotten more difficult. Many agricultural producers and small businesses are struggling to keep their businesses afloat — citing higher costs of labor, supplies, and equipment, all while facing unprecedented barriers to land and water resources.

If we want another four decades of exceptional farmers markets, we need to act now to protect the future of farming. In response, we’re deepening our commitment to local food, agriculture, and community — turning farmers markets into a local food movement.

Things Are About to Look Different. Here’s Why.

Where It Started: Our Strategic Plan

This refresh is grounded in our Strategic Plan, which positioned BCFM to move beyond being a farmers market operator and step into a new role in our community as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our plan expanded our mission through five key pillars: Advocacy, Education, Food Hub, Year-Round Market, and Resource Development. With this fresh scope of work came a new challenge: our brand needed to tell a different story.

Our Logo: Uniting Growers & Eaters for a Brighter Future

Designed by Vermilion Design + Digital, our new brand depicts the next chapter of Boulder County Farmers Markets’ work.

The Story: The illustration shows two neighbors passing a “bouquet” of agricultural goods from the hand of the producer to the consumer. You see a variety of goods — vegetables, flowers, and grain — to demonstrate the variety of products produced right here in Colorado. At its heart, this is the story of our work: uniting growers and eaters to create the food system we all deserve.

The Style: The artwork is purposefully imperfect to create a human-centered, handcrafted feel. It’s style is designed to feel accessible, family-friendly, and down-to-earth — all so that more people feel welcomed and invited to participate in our work. The vibrant color palette and artwork captures the abundance we see at our seasonal farmers markets every week.
