Before we gather for the first farmers markets of the season this Saturday, let's give it up for our market managers who make everything possible: Liz and Ann!

Liz (lovingly known as Lizard) is our Boulder Farmers Market Manager and her passion for local food and agriculture shines through in everything she does. A self-proclaimed nomad, she landed in Boulder last year and was integral in making our Boulder Farmers Markets a joyful community space. And if managing the market isn't enough, she'll be spending her free time this year working on a local farm. 🌱

Ann (or Doctor Ann) is an MD, farm owner, and the mastermind behind the Longmont Farmers Market. Ann has run her own micro-farm, New Moon Farm, since 2005 and was previously a vendor with Boulder County Farmers Markets. We don't know where we would be without her wisdom, compassion, and leadership on our small but mighty team.

While you're strolling through the markets this Saturday, be sure to thank a market staffer. Ann and Liz have worked tirelessly to make this season as special as possible. We're beyond lucky to have them on our team! 🧡

MASA Farm & Seed Foundation's mission is to secure

MASA Farm & Seed Foundation's mission is to secure a Front Range Seed Bank of rigorously selected heirloom and traditional food plants adaptable to emerging climate change. 🌱

They do this by 50 tons of produce on their property in Boulder and carefully selecting which crops to collect seeds from. The goal isn't always to grab seeds from the most beautiful tomato, but to instead find the most resilient crops and harvest their seeds for strong future planting.

Meet @bouldervalleyhoney — the sweetest new addition to the Boulder Saturday Farmers Market! 🐝

Chris Borke began studying beekeeping as a teenager. In 2013, he started a single apiary at a co-op near Chautauqua Park under a honey-lease agreement — the beginning of what's now known as Boulder Valley Honey.

Today, Boulder Valley Honey keeps apiaries throughout the greater Boulder area, carefully isolating and producing honey from each location that showcases unique forage that creates delicious honey. They focus on supporting strong bees in a sustainable manner by building quality beehives from locally-sourced materials, rearing gentle queens from resilient stock, and producing delicious raw honey that showcases floral diversity from each apiary.

If you ask Chris what he's most proud of, it's that Boulder Valley Honey planted the first acre of native bee forage on their farm. Dubbed the Pollinator Power Pathway, the acre includes over 400 native shrubs, transplanted yucca (the only forage source for the nocturnal yucca moth) and native-bee friendly plant sources.
