Boulder County Farmers Markets is a 501 (c)4 non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening our food system by supporting, promoting, and expanding access to locally grown and made products for all members of our community. We do this by operating seasonal farmers markets (including the Boulder and Longmont Farmers Markets) and a year-round online marketplace that connect and strengthen relationships between local farmers, producers, and enthusiastic eaters.

Position Description
Boulder County Farmers’ Markets (BCFM) is looking for part-time Market Staff. Positions are open for Boulder or Longmont on Saturdays for the season (April 6th- November 23rd) and in Boulder on Wednesdays (May 1st through October 2nd). BCFM is seeking energetic and collaborative individuals who are self-starters capable of working independently and in teams, able to multitask and handle a wide variety of job responsibilities. Candidates should have a passion for food and enjoy a physical work environment.

At a minimum, candidates should be able to work from 5:30am- 4pm on Saturdays through November and/or 1pm-9pm Wednesdays through October. Candidates have the opportunity to apply for a Saturday-only or Wednesday-only position, or apply for both. Please let us know which shifts you are available for in your application.

Responsibilities
Market Staff will assist in everything from setting up the market, to running our information booth, to breaking down the market at the end of the day. This includes helping staff our market information booth, selling merchandise, communicating with vendors and customers, managing our Eco-Cycle program, enforcing market policies, welcoming customers and a variety of other tasks required to operate a vibrant community event each week.

  • Is punctual, dependable, and respectful of company time and resources
  • Has preferred prior experience working in the hospitality industry, farmers market, or farm setting.
  • Is able to work long days in all weather conditions: we are an all weather market!
  • Has the ability to lift 50+ pounds and to stand and walk for hours at a time.

Position Description
We are seeking an energetic, welcoming and organized individual to serve as our part-time Food Access Coordinator at the Longmont Farmers Market. The Food Access Coordinator will be the primary contact at the farmers market for SNAP and WIC recipients. Job responsibilities include conducting and overseeing transactions, set-up and breakdown of marke, and data entry.

This is a unique position that requires a diverse skill set; we are looking for someone who is capable of working both independently and as a team, excels at multitasking, and is able to handle a wide variety of job responsibilities. The ideal candidate should have a passion for local food, speak fluent Spanish and English, and thrive in a physical work environment in all weather conditions. Good customer service skills are a must.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with weekly logistics and market operations, including market setup and breakdown, merchandise sales, vendor and customer communication, management of our Eco-Cycle program, policy enforcement, and customer engagement
  • Ensure proper food access signage at each vendor stall
  • Perform food access transactions
  • Direct customer service
  • Engage and collaborate with Food Access Ambassadors
  • Provide general support to the Boulder County Farmers Markets team
  • Maintain food access equipment, resources and materials
  • Basic Excel/Google Sheets Knowledge

Desired Competencies

  • Fluency in English and Spanish: Speaks effectively and conversationally in both English & Spanish.
  • Detail oriented: Can perform transactions and reconciliations (requiring elementary math skills) with a high rate of accuracy in a market environment.
  • Excellent Customer Service: Greets and anticipates customer and vendor needs by providing information and quality service.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Empathetic, holds boundaries, builds relationships and receives feedback well with all stakeholders, including customers, staff, and vendors.
  • Takes Direction: Takes direction well and completes all tasks fully and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, both independently and collaboratively, as needed.
  • Knowledge of Food Access: Strong knowledge of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), WIC (Women Infants and Children) and other food access efforts in Boulder County.
  • Knowledge of Food Systems & Agriculture: Working knowledge or desire to learn the general state of food systems and Colorado agriculture.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Available to work Saturdays 7:00 am – 2:00 pm from April -November and (optionally) Wednesdays 1:30 pm – 8:30 pm May through October.
  • Capable of performing physically demanding work, including working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Has the ability to lift 50+ pounds and to stand and walk for hours at a time.

Principales Responsabilidades
